Allison Tate - Filmmaker
Allison Tate (she/they) is an award-winning writer, director, and creative producer. She made her feature film debut as lead producer with the breakout coming-of-age comedy hit, Big Boys, and received a Film Independent Spirit Award Nomination for the John Cassavetes Award alongside writer/director Corey Sherman. The film also earned a Spirit Award nomination for Best Breakthrough Performance and a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Film - Limited Theatrical Release. Big Boys earned a 5-star review from The Guardian and holds a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Big Boys premiered at the BFI Flare Film Festival in London and played festivals globally, winning 17 awards including the Outfest Audience Award. The film had a multi-city U.S. theatrical release with Dark Star Pictures and is now being rolled out with international distributors. Big Boys is available on all major platforms including Amazon, Apple, Google and Youtube.
She has produced for Facebook, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, LeBron James’ Springhill Productions, Out Magazine, The Advocate and more.
She has released several independent short films and documentaries to international acclaim since 2015, and served on the Inside Out Toronto International Film Jury in 2019. She is based in L.A. currently producing a slate of film & television projects.
